Mesoscale Computer Simulation and Its Applications
Li Youyong,Guo Senli,Wang Kaixuan,Xu Xiaojie**
2000, 12 (04): 361- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
This review describes the recent advances of mesoscale computer simulation. Two mesoscale simulation methods, mesodyn and dissipative particle dynamics are introduced. A brief description of the authors’work is reported here. This review also describes the applications of mesoscale computer simulation in micelle formation, colloidal flobuilding, emulsions, rheology, copolymer and polymer blend morphology, and the flow th rough porous media.

Shen Yuemao,Gan Fanyuan,Du Liangcheng,Hao Xiaojiang*
2000, 12 (04): 401- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
During recent ten years, the research on biosynthesis of natural products, particularly of poly ketides has made staggering progress with the application of the methods and techniques transplanted from molecular biology in to bioorganic chemistry. The biosynthetic path ways of natural poly ketides were briefly reviewed in this article.
Green Chemistry
Zhu Qingshi
2000, 12 (04): 410- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
Green chemistry tries to prevent the pollution from very beginning. It covers all the range of chemistry. Th is article introduces some principles of green chemistry and the fundamental problems of the chemistry with biomass as feedstock. It is hoped that these works would provide some ways to solve the problems of sustainable development.
Abstract
The category, contents and features of environmental chemistry are discussed. Some hot spots of research topics in environmental water quality science and technology related to microinterfacial processes are introduced. The scope and development for aquatic particulates, toxic chemicals, suspended sediments and inorganic polymer flocculants are reviewed.
Chemical Biology: A Rapidly Rising Frontier
Wu Houming
2000, 12 (04): 423- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
Chemical biology is rapidly establishing itself as an important interdisciplinary field through crosslink and fusion. Chemical tools and methods, such as synthetic, structural and analytical ones, are used to study biological and medical problems. The molecular biology means are also accepted to resolve problems in chemistry as well. The main research strategy in this new area is to alter the function of biological molecules and to explore the molecular mechanism of molecular recognition and signal pathway involved in physiological and pathological processes using small natural or designed molecules as probes. The explosion of the knowledge at the interface of chemistry, biology and medicine not only supplies powerful approaches for clarifying details and regulation mechanism of cellular processes and better understanding of life at molecular level, but also new opportunities for the creation and development of novel medicines.
Nanochemistry
Xue Qunji,Xu Kang
2000, 12 (04): 431- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
The recent development s of nanostructured materials are reviewed. The emphasis is on the chemical preparation methods and their chemical properties. The possible utilization pathways of nanomaterials are discussed. It is pointed that the nanochemistry is the base of the development of nanom aterials, and chemists should pay attention to the development of new preparation methods and the comprehansive understanding of their chemical properties, which will promote the utilization of nanomaterials.

Liu Zhenyu
2000, 12 (04): 458- |
Published: 24 November 2000
Abstract
Coal is China's main energy. The country's sustainable development requires efficient and clean use of coal especially in combustion and conversion. The main chemical aspects of coal energy are those encountered in improving efficiency and pollution control of various coal conversion technologies, which include knowledge in constituents and structure of coal, transformation of coal constituents during thermal chemical processes especially polluting elements, and catalytic reaction of carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
