The category, contents and features of environmental chemistry are discussed. Some hot spots of research topics in environmental water quality science and technology related to microinterfacial processes are introduced. The scope and development for aquatic particulates, toxic chemicals, suspended sediments and inorganic polymer flocculants are reviewed.
