Attraction between Like-Charge Particles
Zhang Bo,Liu Honglai**,Hu Ying
2001, 13 (01): 1- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
The existence of long2range electro static attraction between particles with like charge is one of the great current cont roversies of colloidal science. The classicalDLVO theory predicts that an isolated pair of like2charged colloidal spheres in elect rolyte should experience apurely repulsive Coulombic interaction. Direct measurements of such interactions have shown excellent agreement with DLVO theory.Recent experiments, however, provide evidence that the effective in terparticle potential show a long2range attraction under certain condition s. A satisfactory theoretical explanation for this behavio r has proven elusive. There are even some doubts about its origin. Further experimental and theoretical investigations of this surprising phenomenon could be very rewarding.
Nanostructure and Analysis of Porous Carbons
Liu Zhenyu,Zheng Jingtang,Wang Maozhang,Zhang Bijiang
2001, 13 (01): 10- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
Porous carbons are composed of nanoparticles, surfaces, irregular textures and nanospaces. Nano structure includes nanospace and nanoparticle because the pores ranges and the particles are both in the nanometer scale. The research in terests on adsorption focus on microstructure and adsorption mechanism of porous solids. These are helpful for s to further understand the process of adsorption, adsorption model and adsorption mechanism.

2001, 13 (01): 19- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
Titanium silicon catalytic materials gives new ways for the studies of the catalytic oxidizing reactions and the exploitation of the environmental benign chemical engineering processes. Titan ia2silica mixed oxides has at tracted more at tention because of its tailor preparing method and the easy operating process. This article summarizes the preparation of titania2silica mixed oxides. The factors effecting on the character and catalytic properties of the materials, such as preparing method, drying method, content of titanium and surface modification, as well as the prospect of application have been discussed.
Cloud-Point Extraction and Its Applications to the Separation and Analysis of Biopolymers
Ma Yue,Yan Zhe,Huang Junxiong
2001, 13 (01): 25- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
Cloud2point extraction(CPE ) is a kind of new environmentally benign liquid2liquid extraction method. In this paper the phase separation behavior of some surfactant micelle solutions is introduced. The experimental protocol of CPE is outlined. The specific application s of such systems to the separation and purification of biopolymers and bioanalysis are summarized and discussed. The development trend of CPE is also presented.

2001, 13 (01): 33- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
The application of modified heterogeneous chiral catalysts in asymmetric synthesis is described in this review. Several types of heterogeneous catalytic systems, including immobilized transition metal complexes, chirally modified metal catalys s, chiral zeolite and clay2intercalated chiral catalysts, are summarized according to different preparative methods and catalytic reactions. The reaction mechanism intart rate modified catalysts and cinchona modified catalysts are also discussed.

2001, 13 (01): 56- |
Published: 24 January 2001
Abstract
Biomaterials as artificial extracellular martixes (ECM s) have played a great role in tissue engineering1 This paper analyzed the interaction between cells and biomaterials surface. The complexity of biomaterials were discussed in some aspects such as the biomaterials contain ing water, biomaterials surface topography, biomaterials surface specificity recognition, as well as healing induced by biomaterials,. The effect of biomaterials on cells is a bi2directional, dynamic process, regulating the balance between cell growth and apoptosis, and is a challenge to biomaterials design and surface modification1 Based on the effect of biomaterials on cells growth, some ideas were put forward, e. g. biomimetic modification of biomaterials surface for improving cells affinity, carbohydrate cluster, glycolipid and protein modifying biomaterials surface in order to enhance cells specificity recognition, self2assembly of materials to modify surface topography1

Abstract
Waste poly (ethylene terephalate) (PET ) can be recyclized by chemical depolymerization. This paper reviews the state of the art of chemical recycling of PET polyester and introduces several methods for chemical recycling such as hydrolysis, methanolysis, glycolysis and so on. At the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of each method on technical process are also compared.
