Natural product chemistry is of both academic and industrial interest due to its potential applications in life science and pharmaceutical industry. The research progress, challenges as well as the opportunity of natural product chemistry in China are summerized. The strategies and guidelines to prompte the natural product chemistry research in China, especially in the field of novel structures, new biological functions and novel synthetic methods of the natural products are also discussed.
