Methylation of Metal (loid) Elements and Its Significance in Environmental Chemistry Studies

Methylation is an important process of biogeochemical cycling for many toxic metal elements. In this paper, four methylating agents available for methyl transfer in natural system and three alternative mechanisms of methylation are summarized. The significance of metal methylation in environmental chemistry studies is also discussed.
