Cleaner Production ——A New Realization of Environmental Strategy

Cleaner production has been disseminated worldwide quickly as a trend of environmental protection and realized as a turning point of environmental strategy from passive reaction to active action after it was raised in USA and some other developed countries at the end of 80′s. Pollution control system has many limitations, it consumes huge energy and resources, but still cannot solve the global environmental problems we are facing now. Cleaner production can solve the sustainable and harmonious problems of economic and environmental development as it focuses on source reduction. This paper introduces the origin and development of cleaner production systematically and discusses the importance of cleaner production strategy as compared with pollution control system.
