Large-scale cultivation of animal and plant cells, which is closely related to the production of biological medicine, constitutes a great part of recent development in biological techniques. The biochemical engigeering aspects of cultivation of animal and plant cells ,are discussed in detail, such as culture conditions, bioreactors, immobilization methods, simulation of basic reactions.biological surfaces and interfaccs,liquid-solid transport processes, vibrated fluidization, separation of products, mathematical models and scaling-up design, and automatic control, analyses and optimization of systems and so on. Some proposals are put forward about the development of animal and plant cells.
