Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
The syntheses, structures and properties, including conductivity and magnetic properties of three series of novel inorganic polymers prepared using transition metal ions and organic ligands are summarized. The following aspects are discussed: (1) the self-assembly reactions and structures of the novel nano-cages, nano-tubes and nano-wire; (2) the design, syntheses, structures and conducting properties of a series of ID W(Mo)/Ag/S thiometalate polymers; (3) the synthetic approach, structural rule, and physical properties of coordination polymers having 2D lamellar structures constructed by organosulfur ligands and transition metal salts.

Wang Hua**, Liu Zhongmin
2003, 15 (04): 256- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
The progress in combinatorial heterogeneous catalysis is reviewed comprehensively. The combinatorial heterogeneous catalysis process, library preparation, library characterization (high-throughput screening) and microchannel reactor are introduced. 2003, 15 (04): 264- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
In recent years, a great progress has been made on the research of inorganic whisker materials in China, especially on the research of application and synthesis of inorganic whisker. Industrial production of inorganic whisker represented by the project of "aluminum borate whisker industrialization" will undoubtedly give strong support to high-tech and new materials in China. The present situation of the research on application and synthesis of several types of inorganic whisker such as SiC、 Al_(18) B_4O_(33)、 K_2Ti_6O_(13)、CaCO_3、Mg_2B_2O_5 and mullite whisker are reviewed. The perspective on this research field is also discussed.
Synthetic Polymers for DNA Separation by Capillary Electrophoresis
Wang Qian,Xu Xu**
2003, 15 (04): 275- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
Capillary non-gel sieving electrophoresis has made remarkable progress in DNA fragments separation, DNA sequencing, and has been applied successfully to the Human Genome Project. In this method, a linear polymer solution is pumped into the capillary for retarding ion migration velocity during electrophoresis, so that the large biopolymers like DNA can be separated according to their molecular weight. The polymer type, composition and properties greatly influence the separation performance. Recently, many kinds of linear water-soluble polymers have been used in this method. The synthetic polymers and their performance as sieving media were reviewed according to the kinds of homopolymer and copolymer. The related mechanism of size-based separation of DNA chains in polymeric media and the quantitative methods for evaluating DNA separation ability were also considered.

Synthesis of Oligosaccharides with Unprotected or Lightly Protected Glycosyl Acceptors
Kong Fanzuo
2003, 15 (04): 295- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
Regio- and stereoselective synthesis of oligosaccharides with unprotected or lightly protected gluco-, manno- and rhamnose as glycosyl acceptors was achieved via sugar orthoester formation-rearrangement. a-(1→6)-Linked mannose oligosaccharides, β-(l→6)-linked glucose oligosaccahrides, and 3, 6-branched mannose and glucose oligosaccharides were conveniently synthesized with quite simplified procedures. Biologically important oligosaccharides such as phytoalexin elicitor glucohexaose, antitumor fragments of lentinan, and some repeating units of biologically important polysaccharides were prepared readily. Recent progress in regioselective synthesis of oligosaccharides with lightly protected glucosamine and galactose as acceptors was also outlined.
Application and Research of Functionalized Calixpyrroles
Guo Yong*,Shao Shijun,He Lijun,Shi Yanping,Jiang Shengxiang
2003, 15 (04): 319- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
The recent progress in the research on functionalization and molecular recognition of calixpyrroles is reviewed. In the past three years, a number of the new calixpyrrole macrocycles have been synthesized, including those with the C-rim and the mesa- positions modified and the cavity extended as well as the ring enlarged. The syntheses of functionalized derivatives, the solid-phase HPLC supports and the molecular recognition behaviors are discussed. The applications in anion sensors are also introduced.
Advances in Lignans with Anti-HIV Properties
Yang Yi1,Zhang Chenglu1,Wang Zhe2,Pan Xunfu1**
2003, 15 (04): 327- |
Published: 24 July 2003
Abstract
Lignans exhibit various biological activities, such as antitumor, antihepatotoxic, blood plate activating factor inhibiting and antioxidant activity. However, its anti-HIV property has not been reported until 1990. As antiviral agents, lignans were isolated from plants, which are safe to human cells and have the probability to be the medicines of AIDS treatments. The research on lignans with anti-HIV properties in recent years is reviewed in this paper.
