Abstract
The recent developments in the study of several important nonlinear problems in surface chemical reaction systems, as well as the authors′research results are reviewed. These include nonequilib riumkinetic phase transitions in surface catalytic reaction systems, nonlinear dynamic behavior on fractal surfaces, noise induced spatio temporal structures as well as their transition laws and stochastic resonance in surface reaction systems.

Abstract
The neural networks in chemistry is reviewed with the emphasis on the back propagation algorithm. Kohonen and Hopfield networks are briefly described.Applications in quantitative structure activity property relation ships, structural elucidation of organic compounds, spectro scopic data analysis, chemical reactivity,process optimization, diagnosis and control of breakdowns, and protein structures are summarized.
