Photonics is recognized as a key enabling technology. It can generate or conserve energy, cut greenhouse gas emissions, reduce pollution, yield environmentally sustainable outputs, or improve public health, which can drive tremendous economic growth and has a critical role to play in addressing several key challenges identified in 2020 strategy. In this paper, the Thomson Data Analyzer was used to analyze the research articles of key optoelectronic devices between 2010 and 2014 from Web of ScienceTM database. The analysis results revealed the overall international competitive situations of optoelectronic devices by exploring the annual development trends, mainstream research countries, important research institutes and hotspots research areas.

Meltblowing technology is an important method in fabricating ultrafine fibers. Meltblown nonwovens have a wide range of applications both industrially and domestically, due to their large specific surface area and small pore size. Many products such as absorption articles and filters have been produced using meltblown nonwovens. This article provides an overview of trends in meltblowing technology based on bibliometric methods. Meanwhile, the R&D interests in meltblown nanofiber fabrication as well as the competitiveness of important applicants are analyzed.

Research into carbon nanotube fibers has aroused the widespread attention of scholars. Based on the data from 953 articles about "carbon nanotube fibers" in the Science Citation Index Expanded database during 2011-2015, we analyze the research status of the carbon nanotube fibers by using Thomson Data Anlyzer and UCINET. The results reveal that the publication output of carbon nanotube fibers held basically steady. China and the Chinese Academy of Sciences are the country and institution which publish the largest number papers. Co-author usually happens in two countries or institutions. Research hotspot focuses on the mechanical properties of carbon nanotube fibers.

The development of 3D printing has attracted worldwide concern, most of countries have funded actively in technology research and development. 3D printing has been widely used in many fields, such as aerospace, military, automotive manufacturing, household appliances. It became one of the most important technology of manufacturing industry gradually. Based on the patents data from the Derwent Innovation Index, the state of the arts of 3D printing has been processed by using the statistical tools of the Thomson Innovation, the TDA and Excel. By analyzing the population distributions of the patents as a function of a parameter of International Patent Classification (IPC) such as time, patentee, and technical field, the technology development trend in 3D printing has been identified. The results provide a reference for the industry development scheme in this field.
