Based on the patent information (data from Derwent Innovations Index of ISI WoK) analyzed by TDA and Thomson Innovation, this article tried to reveal the research and development status of industrial enzymes and enzyme in specific application, as well as the technical distribution pattern of main companies. At the final part of the article, some suggestions are provided for China’s industrial enzymes industry.

Patent landscape on the cooling of micro-chip is investigated. Combining the quantitative analysis, qualitative research and expert advice, the article strives to render the current patenting activity characteristics from multiple perspectives including the overall trend, geographical distribution, key assignees, the main technical branches and the technology-function features. And based on all the analyses, the article finally reveals current patenting characteristics comprehensively, in particular, compares the differences of patent filing between China and the global scope, and suggests China's institutions the patenting priorities and potential risks.

The total amount of invention patent for strategic emerging industries granted by SIPO reached 150 691 during 2008-2012. The number of invention patents granted continued to grow, while the development in 7 fields of strategic emerging industries was unbalanced. The number of granted patents obtained by domestic applicants exceeded those obtained by foreign applicants. As to the granted patents of foreign applicants, applicants from Japan and the U.S. accounted for the largest portion.
