Based on drug intelligent information, obtained from Thomson Reuters databases, the trend and characteristics of generic drug (finished dose) and active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) are analyzed globally and in China. The reasons behind the phenomenon are also discussed. At end of the article, the author briefly discusses the future trends and potential opportunities for these markets.

Based on energy supply for micro/nano devices, global patent output of micro/nano power generation technology was analyzed quantitatively. And the characteristics of current patent activity were disclosed to determine the significant research direction and technology in related fields. Based on these comprehensive analysis, future developments of this field were discussed, to provide hints for R&D strategy-developing and decision-making. The Thomson Scientific's data analysis tool TDA (Thomson Data Analyzer), TI(Thomson Innovation) platform and the CAS National Science Library's patent analysis online 2.0 were employed as the main analytical tools wherein.
