With the Energy Security’s increasing seriousness, the R&D of global direct coal liquefaction technology has entered into the second growth stage. By patent information analysis, the paper studied the relationship between global direct coal liquefaction technology research and development and world crude oil price changes, as well as the development status and patents in this field, and further analyzed related patents in China. Some suggestions are also provided for China’s direct coal liquefaction industry from the perspective of patent at the final part of the paper.

Based on the case study of the Quantum anomalous Hall Effect as funding achievement of basic research in China, some successful points were summarized . The main points include the sustainable funding for high level basic research groups, emphasizing instrument development, research cooperation and research culture construction, etc. Some suggestions are proposed, such as increasing investment on the basic research, intensifying talent fostering, increasing the fund for instrument development, making great policy and creating a good environment for the basic research, etc.
