Graphene was first successfully isolated by scientists at the University of Manchester, UK in 2004. Because of its excellent mechanical, thermal, electrical and magnetic properties, graphene has recently become one of research focuses in fields of material science and condensed matter physics. With the ongoing research on its preparation and properties research, graphene is gaining more and more applications. In this paper, through analysis of related international research projects, scientific progress and SCI papers, the international development trends of graphene were discussed; finally, some countermeasures and proposals for developing graphene materials and relative technologies in China were suggested.
